What was the highlight of Toyoko Inn Kyoto Shijo-omiya
good
Its clean. Our room is facing the back of the building and its away from the elevator so it's quite and nice. The breakfast is good and we have that for the 3 mornings we stay there.
My other friends has the room right next to the elevator, I can hear them talking in the room whenever I was waiting at the elevator. Need better noise cancellation. They are guest who woke up early and talked loud on the hallway.

What was the highlight of Toyoko Inn Kyoto Shijo-omiya
Business hotel with small rooms but offering value.
This hotel is easy to get to from Kyoto station. Take the 206 bus from Stand A3 ONLY (there is another stand where the 206 will take you In the opposite direction) and get off at the Shijo-Omiya intersection (7th stop, from memory). Walk back from the bus stop to the intersection, turn right and the hotel is maybe 100 metres along Shijo Dori. The room is very small, with limited space for luggage, but this is a Japanese business hotel, designed for efficiency, not luxury. A Japanese style breakfast is included, not really to my taste, but is OK. Otherwise, there are coffee-shops and cafes around. Facilities in the room have obviously been refined over decades and all work well, wifi was always good, for example. At the time of my visit, guests were mostly Japanese and Chinese and a sprinkling of tourists. The elevators are efficient and quick. There are laundry facilities on the ground floor which are reasonably priced and I never had any difficulty getting a machine.
I would have liked more check-in (4pm) and check-out (10am) times more more convenient for hotel guests. The location suited my purposes but isn't all that convenient to tourist attractions although a lot of tourists stay in the area. Don't stay here if you want 5* levels of luxury and amenity – it isn't that.

It was spacious and located close to 2 train stations. Staff were very helpful in everything that I needed (malfunctioning door lock, luggage forwarding)
The hotel is not as easy to find initially but that isn’t a major issue.

Though small room (expected for japanese hotel) but comfortable. Good breakfast.
Good breakfast, courteous staff, fast check in & out, water & ice dispenser in the lobby.
Parking a bit tricky for the 1st time. After that was okay. 5 min walk fm carpark to hotel.
